An Armed Forces of Malta Bulldog crash landed in Dwejra, Gozo at about 7.30 p.m. while it was on coastal patrol. The crew of three escaped unhurt. The plane was badly damaged. An inquiry is underway.

the aicraft wasnt badly damaged but smashed

it looks pretty mashed to me. a great shame to lose an aircraft but a much greater result that the crew survived! Isnt that the most important thing?

I think it's good on the fact that 'maybe' the AFM will buy some other aircrafts to join there fleet! hehe I know it's dreams dreams but there aircrafts are getting old and as time passes you can't have a 40 year old aircraft in doing continuous work in your fleet. There has to be a necesary change.

The Bulldog isn't really suited for their needs anyway.
I have never heard of another low-wing aircraft being used for visual patrols.
You really have to bank hard to gain any downward vision!
Probably the best plane for the AFM would be the OV-10 Bronco.. twin engined, excellent visibility, troop carrying capability and with a very mighty punch, armed with machine guns and wing-mounted ordnance!
One can always dream on...
