Farewell British Jet
According to a report in yesterday's Times (Fri 16th Nov), British Jet is to cease operations when their lease agreement with Hello comes to an end. The report does not specify when this will actually happen. Malta Bargain Holidays, the company which owns British Jet, will start using Air Malta. A sad end to a bold venture. I remember waiting outside Medavia early in the morning in May 2005 for the freshly-painted British Jet MD-90 to emerge for the first time. At the time the owner talked about adding a second MD-90. I think there was even talk about starting flights to Italy at one stage. Now British Jet is being described simply as a "brand name" used by Malta Bargain Holidays. I suppose high fuel prices coupled with competition from Ryanair and Air Malta proved too much in the end. Charles
