Fighter pilot training (videos)
Hey dudes! Here are a couple of videos from my experiences in the Royal Danish Air Force so far; the latest video being the centrifuge training/test. http://www.jetfighters.dk/back/videos.htm I will upload more as new events take place. Best regards GEA

so you are maltese ?

GEA- 03-19-2008

I was born there and grew up in Mellieha until I turned 18...then it was time to go for the ultimate dream which cannot be achieved in Malta. /GEA

So to become a part of any royal airforce you want to study in malta?

GEA- 03-20-2008

Sorry, I don't quite understand your question. If this helps, I haven't lived in Malta since 1997. /GEA

So to become a part of any royal airforce you want to study in malta? WTF?

claytonpilot- 03-20-2008

to be a fighter pilot what do you need to do

ryanpaulgalea- 03-20-2008

Please BAe Adrian and claytonpilot!!! Please ask some good questions not nonsence ones!!

AdrianGambin- 03-20-2008

wow 97, i was only 9 when you left  so your 29? isnt it too late to qualify as one?

ryanpaulgalea- 03-20-2008

Well, I have the same dream as you had, but I have only one drawback... When I went to have a medical test, I was informed that my right eye doesn't meet to the appropriate standards for a commercial pilot due to the fact that I have a lazy eye :( :( :( But nothing to do... Unfortunately, today's pilots need to be almost physicaly 'perftect' GEA, you must consider yourself lucky considering the BIG amount of people like me who want to let their dream come through but beacause of a physical problem, they just can't...

@claytonpilot: First of all you have to be willing to move away from Malta to a country where thet actually have jets. It's a big step and in a way it's a big gamble. The next thing I did was to get married at age 18 in order to get the citizenship in time before I got too old to apply. Then of course it's only logic that you have to master the language of where you're living, or else you won't stand a chance. When all is in place you get the qualitfications. For the RDAF I needed Maths, English and Danish A levels as part of a junior college degree. The qualifications entitle you to apply and take the tests. Here is a brief description of the tests: http://www.jetfighters.dk/back/RDAFtests.htm @BAe Adrian: I turn 29 in October, so I'm still enjoying the best of my 28. I will be about 32 when I'm done which is relatively "old" as a newly trained fighter pilot but should be ok. @ryanpaulgalea: Indeed I feel very lucky to have gotten the chance to give it a shot but don't think any of it came easy! As you say, the medical tests are mostly about luck. If you have the slightest fault with your eyes, ears, lungs, brain, back or heart they won't accept you in the military. On the other hand one can stay in good shape and eat healthy to improve the odds. Don't think that it's impossible to become fighter pilot. It's not! I'm a normal dude just like any of you. I just work very hard and have the right elements that the Air Force requires. I'm sure that there's also some of you guys who have the right stuff. Most important: Believe in yourself and NEVER give up. Best regards GEA

claytonpilot- 03-22-2008

heh I was 2years old when Gea left Malta!

ryanpaulgalea- 03-22-2008

Thanks for your reply GEA!! Very interesting!! Well looks like a Maltese guy who want to join the Danish AF will find it normal to get the Maths and English A level... but not Danish.. hehe. I sure don't have a chance because of my f*** eye sight.. :(:( (the left eye is 1 but my right one is 6!!). Like you said, luck will not get you anywere and for every job, you need to work hard to achieve it!

AdrianGambin- 03-22-2008

my eyes and health are perfect but im a sucker at maths :(

ryanpaulgalea- 03-23-2008

Hehe well Maths is a tricky subject, but if you put your mind to it and make hours working out problems (studying).... there's a big probability of getting better to the subject!!! Let me ask you something GEA.... Isn't Physics more related to aviation and how come it isn't listed as an A level?
