Jetphotos (help)
Hi all. I know i dont have many photos on jp's but i must admit i was quite surprised to have this rejected. The reasons were, - Bad Composition (bad framing / aircraft not centered) - Undersharpened (Soft) Another forum I am a member of have posted comments on this image. You can see here. http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69846 Am I really crap or was the screener having a bad day? I realise the aircraft is not quite as close to the left of the frame, but come on... ive seen a lot worse on jps!!!! Thoughts? Aaron

Jetphotos began after airliners.net Their reasoning was that if they were less stringent on what they would accept, they would have a more popular site! At first, they accepted pretty much anything that was acceptable, but as time went by, they became ever more stringent. There was a time when you could take a shot with a digital SLR, sharpen and resize it, and it would be accepted. Not any more. Simply said, they have now achieved a sizeable database, and serverspace is at a premium now, so they're more selective. The problem is that now they're being selective to the point of being demotivating.

HI Aaron. First of all nice pic, but I have to say that I agree with the screener. But not a big deal. All you have to do is crop in photoshop so as to centre the aircraft and aply a bit of USM. If you have any difficulties you can always send me an email on wright@di-ve.com. Cheers, Ian

Thanks guys... I do agree but sometimes it can be very discouraging... ill try airliners next ;-) hehehe Aaron

Ive cropped as you said Ian, and i added a little more usm, and so have uploaded again to jp's. Fingers crossed! Thanks again for your tips and comments :-)

can you post the queue link here so I can give it a look so it will not be rejected again for a stupid reason:) Cheers, Ian

AaronB- 01-25-2007

hiya, here are three ive re-uploaded. http://www.jetphotos.net/viewqueued_b.php?id=1296796 http://www.jetphotos.net/viewqueued_b.php?id=1296798 http://www.jetphotos.net/viewqueued_b.php?id=1296800 Thanks Ian Aaron

So in my opinion: The lufthansa one is ok. The Air Malta takeoff is fine but the cheatlines look a bit oversharpened. The Problem is with the other Air Malta. I would remove from the queue. I will crop it higher in the frame and more USM. If you need any help just mail me or something. IAN

Thanks for your help Ian. As for the take off shot, since the original rejection, I have only cropped and added usm (260, 0.2, 0) twice. What do you think? Ill look at the other Air Malta too.. Thanks again

ianwright- 01-25-2007

Its better to use layers and then delete the cheatlines after the USM.. I hope that I can show u this when we will sometimes make the photoshop tutorials IAN

Concerning selective sharpening this thread might help: http://maltaspotters.14.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=44
