New airliners.net terms of use
Those of you who upload photos to airliners.net, have you received their e-mail about the new terms of use? If not, here's the link: http://www.airliners.net/termsofuse/ They include this rather nasty piece of work: "Subject to your right to terminate your license to us as described in Section 5(C), you hereby grant Airliners.net an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, transmit, distribute, publicly perform and display (including in each case by means of a digital audio and video transmission), advertise in, on, and around, and create derivative works of the Content you submit or make available for inclusion on or through the Service, and to incorporate such Content into other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed, for purposes such as (but not limited to) promoting the Site or promoting the availability of such Content on the Site. "You also hereby waive any moral rights you may have under the laws of any jurisdiction in Content you submit or make available on or through the Service. While it is our general policy to include your name alongside your Content, we are not obligated to do so." Take note because this is serious. The terms are not coming into effect straight away, but unless they get changed I'm pulling all my photos from a.net. Charles

Another blow to a.net's credibility!!! This is serious rubbish.... This means that your work, will not stay your work..... Ahhh...The good way is to stick to one site :P:P Ruben

As soon as I saw this, I immediately tried to urgently delete 2 photos that I had in the queue, with the intention of never, now you can say - GIVE them another photo and also remove all others, but I could not because DAMN IT, they were in screening !! ..... these were these : http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6166709&nseq=2 But I did not need to worry    because like 9 out of 10 of my photos, as usual these were rejected (thanks !!!!) for a number of reasons including level (check vertical mast on right side !! ) ... and so, in light of the present "situation" .... below is my polite reply to the rejection ..... Appeal - PHEW !!! Good news that you (incorrectly !!) rejected these photos, because I tried deleting them from queue but could not (as they were in screening) becuase of that a.net rubbish / callous / infamous new term of condition that you can do FREELY whatever you want with MY photos !! .... Rubbish !! wishfull thinking !! who the hell do you think you are !!?? and what do you think we are ? stupid or what ?? will check how to remove all photos from site. and by the way, ALL the verticals in both these photos are EXACTLY (checked by software) 90 degrees vertical, so you could have tried coming up with some (stupid) thing else like usual but not that ! .... so long ...... so, please allow me this one ....... FXXK YOU a.net !!!!

LOFL!!! Finally you took that off your stomach!!!! i'll be doing like you and presumably many others and remove my photos from there although there aren't that much. You are the Man!! Cheers I also would like to thank Charles as he brought this up although i was emailed by a.net and didn't take any notice of it.

Mr.Chris Kilroy sent every1 an e-mail affirming jp.net protection of photographic work on their website... I think we will see an influx of photographers going to jp.net!!!! GREAT!!!

MarkZerafaGilson- 02-10-2008

I think we should, as a group request all our photos to be removed from airliners.net. Who's with us?

Guys, New developments. The new boss of airliners.net, Paolo Emanuele of Demand Media, has said in the a.net forum that it was all a big mistake by his legal department (ha, ha) and he's going to get the terms changed this coming week. So it's worth waiting to see what happens. For sure, however, he's going to have to give photographers cast-iron guarantees after a monumental cock-up like this. Even if he does, I wonder whether a.net will be able to recover its credibility. In spite of all the arbitrary rules and the screening inconsistency, a.net was a great site ... what a pity to see it teetering on a cliff-edge under its new management. Charles
