Opinion Poll - is this forum better than the email system? Hello people,
In order to decrease my workload, I was thinking of replacing the email system with this forum, as it is faster, mainly allowing every user to send movement alerts directly to everyone else.
However, your opinion counts, and we'ld like to hear from you before making our decision.
Regards,
Mark

Hmmm .... The e-mail system has the advantage of immediacy, but the forum lays out movements day by day so you can see at a glance what's due on any given day. Also important is that it will make life easier for Mark.
I vote for the forum. But perhaps the e-mail system should be retained for occasions when news of a special movement comes in at short notice?

speed Charles, I believe the forum could be faster, as:
on the current system..
1 - you send email to me
2 - I log on
3 - I send the email
with the forum
1 - you log on the forym
2 - you send the movement alert directly
So, even speedwise, we're better off!

Both are Fine I think that both e-mail and forum are fine.Evreyone can see all the movments, may be from the forum its more faster but from the e-mail you want have a miss as i guess everyone opens his/her inbox everyday

Hello there!!
For the sake of the question I voted no since e mail alert informs you immediatly while the forum, you have to log on it...
But both are of informative source. Forum is always fun!!!
Keep up the good job ;D

Since I just joined I can't really say for sure, coz I didn't experience the e-mail system, but I guess the Forum is good enough on its own. But maybe, as Charles suggested, the e-mail system should be retained for important or short-notice movements.
Regards,
Mark

Guys the problem with email is that, unless the administrator (that is me) logs in and forwards the mail, nobody would get it.
To explain the scenario with an example:
Email system:
1. Mr. X finds out about a movement
2. Mr. X gets PC access and sends an email to maltaspotters
3. I go through the emails, some time later and find Mr. X's email
4. I send the email to all the mailing list
Forum:
1. Mr. X fins out about a movement
2. Mr. X gets PC access and posts on the forum, and everyone can read it.
The only drawback is that people have to log on to the forum, but otherwise the forum is the faster option.

yes the forum is a good idea, but email is faster imo
AndreaParascandalo- 09-07-2006
hmmm, can't you make an alert system & when a post is posted an alert to the mailing list is sent ?
AndreaParascandalo- 09-13-2006
Both have advantages and disadvantages

Difficult to make a post generate an email.
I'll check it out with our hosts.

I would prefer the email system, but I still vote for the forum, because for me its enough for Mark to provide me with this wonderful opportunity to log on whenever I want and check out the movements myself, mhux irid min fuq joqod jibatli email !! jigi ghalija id- dar u johodni l'airport bil- karozza tieghu ikun jonqsu !! excuse my bluntness ......

I am favour with the Forum system. I find it more reliable by just entering in it as a website and find movements news etc
