Two persons onboard a P929J 4-seater plane escaped unhurt following an emergency crash landing in a field close to Luqa, police reported.
The plane had two people on board when it developed an engine failure - a Maltese student of the European Pilot Academy and a female pilot instructor from Switzerland who was examining him.
Both walked away unharmed after they managed to successfully carry out the necessary procedures required in instances of plane engine failure. They landed near Garibaldi Street in Luqa very close to a fireworks factory.
This was the second plane crash of the year. A small armed forces aircraft crashed in Gozo earlier this year.
Members of the Civil Protection Department together with an ambulance were called on site. The European Pilot Academy will carry out an internal investigation to determine the reasons for the crash landing.
