Seaplane expected to arrive in Malta by Chris Galea, di-ve news (cgal@di-ve.com) VALLETTA, Malta (di-ve news) -- May 22, 2007 -- 1330CEST -- The seaplane which is expected to start operating on a link between the Grand Harbour in Valletta and the Mgarr port in Gozo is expected to arrive in Malta shortly. The seaplane, a C-FHAH De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Turbine Otter Harbour Air, left Prestwick airport in the UK at around 1130CEST on its way to Marseille, France, from where it would then depart to Malta. It is expected to arrive in Malta between Tuesday night and Wednesday, although it will only start operations at a later stage. www.di-ve.com had revealed that a seaplane option was being considered after the pull-out of Spanish helicopter operators Helisureste, which had triggered discussions on the need of a fixed-wing air link between Malta and Gozo. Various organisations had given a cold shoulder to the option of a seaplane, saying that it was better than nothing but pointing out that it was not the ideal solution to improve the connection between the two islands.
