Spotters' guide to MLA
Dear all, Ever been contacted by a spotter from abroad who is thinking of coming to Malta and would like to know where the good spotting places are and how easy it is to reach them? No doubt some of you have received such inquiries, and so have I. This prompted me to set up a Malta page at SpottersWiki where I have gradually been compiling info about spotting places. I thought I'd let you know about this page in case you need to refer to it in reply to inquiries from abroad. Also, do please let me know if you come across any mistakes, or if you have any good photos on a.net or jp.net to which I can include links (in this case I would need to know what camera you used and the focal length at which you shot the photo - this is usually included in the photo EXIF data). The page still lacks a map, but to my knowledge it is the only info of its kind currently available on the net. Roberto Benetti used to have something similar on Flightline Malta but this site does not seem to be online any more. Any thoughts and comments would be welcome. Regards, Charles

Great page Charles! Very informative and helpfull to new comers. May I just suggest updating the communications information, for airband radio users. If you need any help I'll be glad to provide you with any frequencies I might know. Regards, Mark

Thanks guys! May I just suggest updating the communications information, for airband radio users. I've seen the frequencies on the MATS website but I'm not sure which ones fit under the headings set out in the spotterswiki page. I'd appreciate any help.

Here they are Charles: TOWER - 135.100MHz GROUND - 121.825MHz CLEARANCE - N/A APPROACH / DEPARTURE (Luqa Radar) - 128.150MHz MALTA CENTRE (If you want to add it) - 130.970 / 123.625MHz ATIS - 127.400MHz Hope that helps. Regards, Junior

Thanks Junior. Spotterswiki uses standard headings for ATC frequencies and I haven't figured out how to change them, so I haven't been able to add Malta Centre but all the rest are now in.

You're welcome Charles, I'm glad I could help  Junior
