The Spotters Wall
Monday early the morning i happened to pass by the spotters wall, which i havnt visited in ages, and i was horrified at the surroundings of this spot? what was i hoffified at?........ the LITTER! litter that has been accumulating over the months, or years? thousands of items of litter (mainly mc donalds) scattered everywhere. in the grass, parking spot and even inside the airfield now! WTF dont people have the descency to clean up or throw it away? what animal would do this? there were 'bins' full to the brim! do the waste removers even come close to the wall? i dont think so. not only did i find litter... but even human excrement! what are we here? in some arab country or what? imagine what foreign spotters think of us maltese spotters when they visit the wall. think about the environment! pity i didnt have my camera, because i would have taken a picture and sent it in the news paper! i cant really blame anyone on this. its either stopbyers who just take a snack and discard on the floor or maybe you (in general) spotters! im just hoping its none of us ;) shouldnt we onform the waste collectors? or above all start off with 'yourselves' and throw away in a bin! :?

i dont think so! because some of the litter was fading and also degrading! that happends only through time

I don't think aircraft spotters are to blame. We go there to take photos, but the spotter's wall is also frequented by people who go there just to sit in their cars eating takeaway food. It's their idea of recreation apparently.

Ive pondered on this subject for a while, and wondered if infact those bins are ever emptied? Also the rat population seems to be having a fairly well fed life.. i saw a massive one recently. Also, its not just Maccy D's rappers. Sometimes I wonder if at night someone uses the wall as a brothel considering the "other" litter one can find in the morning!! So. As its "our" wall for our recreation, (if only there was a "photographers only sign") and the unfortunate situation that people do just sit there to eat their Mc Chicken Burgers.. what can we do as a group. Should we inform the council as it IS turning into a health and saftey issue... should we write to the papers... or could we get together as a team and just grin and bear it and clean it up ourselves? iv thought of all those possibilities! the best is take a nice shot with ur state of the art cameras and send it to the papers.

I think that it's better to start off by advising the local council. Then if no actions are taken we should report on newspaper. I'll phone tomorrow at Kirkop Local Council. If someone elso could phone up our voice would be listened more. Kirkop local council Tel.: 21680099
