Unlevelled Horizon
Hi guys! I had a number of photos rejected for unlevelled horizon. Can anyone tell me which is the best technique to level a horizon cause a photo in my eyes seems levelled but for jp not. Thanks

Antoine, I use this method: 1. Load image in Photoshop. 2. Click on Cropping Tool. 3. Click the mouse on a corner and drag it right across the image. 4. Tick the Perspective box that appears on top of the Photoshop screen. 5. Click and drag a corner that is closest to the vertical OR horizontal 'tilt' until the edge of the cropping frame is parallel to the 'tilt'. 6. Hit Enter and voila! :) 6a. Try to remember to UNtick the Perspective box nest time you use the cropping tool!!!!! ;) OR 1. Click and hold on the Eyedropper Tool and keeping the mouse button down, slide down to the Measuring Tool. 2. Place the cursor at one end of the 'tilt', click the mouse and move it to the other end and click again. 3. Go to 'Image -> Rotate -> Arbitrary'. (The degree of tilt is automatically shown). Click 'OK' and voila again! :) (With this method you need to re-crop).

Yeah I use the latter method. I find using the selection tool, and dragging across something that should be level, like a building, helps to see how "of" the horizon is..Then: image, rotate, arbitrary (try 1 to start then guage from there) until it is. :-) I have to do it with most of my shots! Its hard to remember horizons when you are shooting fast moving aircraft!! Aaron

Thanks very much guys. I tried the two of them and they both worked fine. yes I have a problem. I never get a levelled horizon even when I shot a static aircraft. Hope that the problem isn't in my eye. hehe

I try to level my cam with a building or distant pole before moving it onto the aircraft to shoot the picture :P You will get the catch of it and you will start levelling your photos without the need of photoshop, NATURALLY ;)

Yeah true.. it just takes time.. It just when you want the shot and its really fast, you are bound to get the odd dodgy horizon now and again. (I just had two rejected for that very reason hehehe) But as Rubenm said, well eventually get it, Naturally!! :-)
