I wish I lived there to help you guys more often. Last time I was in Malta I was disgusted at the state of the area around the wall, to the point that my wife and I collected up some of the litter and took it to a large bin in the industrial area the other side of the tunnel.
I also saw some used syringes with needles attached. That saddened me, I didn't know that Malta had a drug problem but I took those as well and suitably disposed of them, but if you do have a cleanup, be careful.
Maybe a notice on the fence, sanctioned by the airport authority, to the effect that litter droppers are likely to be photographed and reported to the authorities would help ?
It's very obvious though that there is insufficient litter collection from the bins as they always seem to be full every time I go there. I'm not the only tourist to have commented on this.

Thanks for your comments Brian. Yes I have also seen items other than just Mcdonalds waste, and if we go ahead with this we should really use caution and protective footware. sorry to have been a bit late on this guys, just big music awards coming up so been super busy preparing. Shall we start thinking of a date when we are all free and there isnt a Typhoon etc coming? Wink

Hi Aaron

Sorry for the long silence on my part. Had a crazy week. But this is important and I'll be there.

Will bring some garbage bags and in the meantime I'll try to find out where we can dispose of them afterwards.

Charles

I believe paper and foam containers used for food are not accepted for recycling. Tins, glass and plastic bottles are but most of what we can expect to find will consist of McDonald's containers.

I'll bring a camera so we can get a shot of all the bags full of collected rubbish. Someone suggested it would be useful for PR purposes and they're right.

(And, of course, just in case something interesting turns up at the airport while we're there Smile )

See you and Massimo in a couple of hours ... less actually
